Solar Thermal Pasteurisation — Reinvented

A world-first high-vacuum solar thermal system that purifies any contaminated water in real time, using only the energy of the sun.

How It Works

Simple Physics. Extraordinary Results.

SolarRain's system is built on proven thermodynamic principles, engineered into a compact, maintenance-free unit that can be deployed anywhere the sun shines.

Step 1 — Solar Collection

The patented high-vacuum solar collector captures solar thermal energy with near-zero heat loss. A permanent high-vacuum sleeve eliminates thermal escape, ensuring maximum energy retention even in variable weather.

Step 2 — Phase-Change Heat Transfer

Phase-change working fluids transfer heat with near-perfect efficiency. This thermodynamic process boosts energy yield while minimising operational costs — no pumps, no moving parts in the core thermal circuit.

Step 3 — Pasteurisation

Water is heated to pasteurisation temperature, killing all pathogens, viruses and coliform bacteria. The process is continuous — not batch — delivering a constant supply of safe drinking water throughout daylight hours.

Step 4 — Smart Monitoring

A compact solar panel powers the electronic control system. Real-time data — temperature, flow rate, system status — is transmitted via WiFi, enabling remote performance monitoring, fault identification and automated backwashing.

What Makes SolarRain Different

☀️

100% Solar Powered

All thermal energy comes from the sun. No grid electricity, no fuel, no chemicals. The only consumable is sunlight — which is free.

🔬

High-Vacuum Technology

A permanent high-vacuum sleeve eliminates heat losses, achieving thermal efficiency levels comparable to those used by NASA and leading research institutions.

⚗️

Phase-Change Working Fluids

Near-perfect heat transfer via phase change maximises thermodynamic efficiency and reduces operational costs compared to conventional fluid-circulation systems.

📡

Patented Smart Controls

The state-of-the-art electronic control system — whose underlying technology is used by NASA, ETH Zurich and Google — enables real-time data monitoring, fault identification and automated backwashing.

🔧

Minimal Maintenance

No moving parts in the core thermal system. Simple, robust design means no specialised skills are required for operation or routine maintenance.

📦

Modular & Scalable

Compact, modular design allows quick installation. Units can be scaled to serve a single household, a community, a farm or a larger municipal installation.

The Technology Behind the Mission

SolarRain licenses its core collector technology from Tenkiv Inc. (US Patent No. US10072851), whose innovations underpin some of the world's most advanced solar thermal applications.

The SolarRain system extends this platform with in-house engineering for water purification — combining the collector with proprietary flow control, electronic monitoring, and pasteurisation circuit design.

"Proven in the field with lab-verified pre and post processing water tests — results meet international potability standards."

  • US Patent No. US10072851 — core solar thermal technology
  • Independently tested water results available on request
  • First field unit operating on a South African farm
  • Future modules planned: heating, cooling, heat engines for electricity generation and storage
